چکیده

We present a first attempt to derive the cosmological evolution of the kinetic luminosity function of AGN based on the joint evolution of the flat spectrum radio and hard X-ray selected AGN luminosity functions. An empirical correlation between jet power and radio core luminosity is found, which is consistent with the theoretical assumption that, below a certain Eddington ratio, SMBH accrete in a radiatively inefficient way, while most of the energy output is in the form of kinetic energy. We show how the redshift evolution of the kinetic power density from such a low-ṁ mode of accretion makes it a good candidate to explain the so-called “radio mode” of AGN feedback as postulated in many galaxy formation schemes.

We combine cosmological simulations with an AGN luminosity function constrained by optical surveys in order to create a realistic AGN distribution in which to model AGN outflows. The outflows are modeled with assumptions of spherical symmetry and energy conservation. We study the importance of the kinetic luminosity of AGN outflows in determining the fractional volume of the IGM filled with out...

The Hellas2xmm Survey. Vii. the Hard X–ray Luminosity Function of Agn up to Z=4: More Absorbed Agn at Low Luminosities and High Redshifts

We have determined the cosmological evolution of the density of active galactic nuclei (AGN) and of their NH distribution as a function of the un–absorbed 2–10 keV luminosity up to redshift 4. We used the HELLAS2XMM sample combined with other published catalogs, yielding a total of 508 AGN. Our best fit is obtained with a luminosity-dependent density evolution (LDDE) model where low luminosity ...

Fueling Low-level Agn Activity through the Stochastic Accretion of Cold Gas1

Using a simple description of feedback from black hole growth, we develop an analytic model for the fueling of Seyferts (low-luminosity AGN) and their relation to their host galaxies, Eddington ratio distributions, and cosmological evolution. We derive a solution for the time evolution of accretion rates in a feedback-driven blast wave, applicable to large-scale outflows from bright quasars in ...

Cosmological Evolution Models for QSO/AGN Luminosity Functions: Effects of Spectrum-Luminosity Correlation and Massive Black Hole Remnants

We investigate a large number of cosmological evolution models for QSOs and Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). We introduce a spectrum-luminosity correlation as a new input parameter and adopt the estimated mass function (MF) of massive black holes in centers of nearby galactic nuclei as a constraint to distinguish among different QSO/AGN models. We explore three basic types of phenomenological scen...

Active Cores in Deep Fields

Deep field observations are an essential tool to probe the cosmological evolution of galaxies. In this context, X-ray deep fields provide information about some of the most energetic cosmological objects: active galactic nuclei (AGN). Astronomers are interested in detecting sufficient numbers of AGN to probe the accretion history at high redshift. This talk gives an overview of the knowledge re...
